About the servers used at Slick Brick Media & Web Works:
Our servers are equipped with 2GB of RAM and use multiple IDE/SCSI
drives for performance and data security. The servers are dual processor Opterons
in a rackmount structure, allowing the hardware to benefit from increased
airflow and cooling,
contributing to extra stability.
Servers run RedHat Linux 9, using a custom kernel tweaked for performance, security and stability. Web pages are serverd by a heavily tweaked Apache web server, again optimized for performance, security and stability. All server functions are monitored carefully at regular time intervals. Automatic checks of services occur every 3 minutes, with frequent manual audits of performance and security. Extensive notification systems ensure that Slick Brick Web & Media Works is notified the minute something out of the ordinary occurs on any of our servers.
All of our production hosting servers are located in NAC's New Jersey datacenter. NAC is widely recognized as one of the best providers on the East Coast of the USA.
NAC employs redundant Cisco routers at the network edge, connected to Cisco layer 3 distribution switches which provide bandwidth to our own Cisco 2950 series switches. Using Cisco's leading hardware means network performance is at optimal levels of speed and reliability.
NAC has multiple redundant bandwidth providers as well as a number of public
and private peering arrangements. The network map below demonstrates the extent
of the bandwidth providers used by NAC in order to ensure that network performance
is consistently high.
